DONALD’S EXPANDS WITH OPENING OF SECOND CARDIFF LOCATION

Hugely popular pie & coffee company continues growth with Trade Street opening

Donald’s, Cardiff’s fast-growing pie-and-coffee brand, has opened a new city-centre site on Trade Street next week, marking the next chapter for one of the Welsh capital’s most talked-about independent food businesses.

The new site – the second bricks and mortar venue for the brand - not only strengthens Donald’s presence in the city but also acts as a state of intent and commitment to growth after a public investment round which saw fans and customers ‘buy in’ to own a piece of the company and contribute to its success.

That support included the rapid sale of Donald’s much-loved ‘100 coffees for £100’ offer - a quick-fire initiative that not only helped to raise funds for expansion but shows the level of backing and belief the brand has built among its community.

The expansion also reflects Donald’s commitment to exceptional coffee as a key part of the brand’s identity with a carefully considered offering - from a staple house espresso, to rotating filter offerings from some of the UK’s most established roasters. As such, the new Trade Street site is intended to serve not only local foodies, but the growing number of Cardiff customers actively seeking ‘a coffee from Donald’s’ as part of their daily routine.

And whilst Donald’s much-loved pies will always remain key to the business, the Trade Street opening will also shine more light on the brand’s evolving food offer - with freshly baked cookies, sausage rolls and other grab-and-go favourites all part of the wider proposition.

Gareth Owens, Co-founder of Donald’s said, Trade Street feels like an important next step for us and where we’re going as a company. We’ve had amazing support from customers in both our Radyr and Quay Street locations from day one, and this new site gives us the chance to build on that with a bigger, broader offer in a rapidly evolving part of the city that’s really benefitting from new apartments, business and opportunities.

It’s humbling to see how popular our pies have become both ins-store, online and through wholesale, but we’ve always wanted to be seen for what we’re doing with coffee, and our wider food offering, too. This expansion gives us a chance to do that.”

The Trade Street opening comes as Donald’s continues to scale, with the business also recently shortlisted for Start-Up Company of the Year at the 2026 Wales Food and Drink Awards.

Donald’s at Trade Street threw open the doors at 8AM on Monday, March 30th. For more information, visit donaldspies.com or www.instagram.com/donalds.uk.

Now growing across multiple sites and channels, Donald’s is on a mission to bring great pies, great coffee, and a modern grab-and-go food culture to more people, more often.
